Piano Instructor

I offer private piano lessons in person and on Zoom.

I am located in Manhattan, NY and I teach within most boroughs.

Unlike most piano tuning companies, I offer reasonable pricing and timely and efficient service.

It is recommended that a well-maintained piano be tuned and serviced 1-2 times a year to account for weather and environmental changes, regardless of how often the piano has been played.

I like performing this piece anytime I sit at a piano. When friends are around it creates a joyful feeling that inspires smiles on all faces.

"The title of the composition is a reference to athletes who are expected to win a sporting event without difficulty. The cover depicts scenes of baseball, football, horse racing and sailing." (Wikipedia)

I chose this piece for its simple, however, beautiful written-out ornamental passage called a cadenza. Throughout the entire piece the cadenza continues to return in more articulated ways. The piece is often referred to as "The Farewell Waltz", or "Valse de l'adieu", since it was originally written as a farewell piece to Maria Wodzińska, for whom Chopin was once engaged.

I chose this piece because of it's jumpy left hand gesture. This gesture is a typical feature of the ragtime genre in which composer Scott Joplin is one of the most famous pioneers.

The idea came to me upon viewing a video of Hiromi Uehara's solo within a larger performance.

This is an example of a transcription exercise for those interested in experimenting with different music styles. In this particular case, I transcribed a jazz improvisation phrase into a 12-bar blues.
